Karṇa’s Bhārgavāstra and the Search for Yudhiṣṭhira
Chapter 45
Duḥśāsanaṁ Śatānīko Hārdikyaṁ Śinipuṅgavaḥ | Dhṛṣṭadyumno Droṇasutaṁ svayaṁ yotsyāmy ahaṁ Kṛpam ||
Even in war, leaders attempt to impose structure through assigned duels and responsibilities; yet the ethical tension remains—personal hatred and vows can masquerade as ‘duty,’ showing how dharma becomes difficult to discern amid violence.
Sañjaya reports the planned matchups of key warriors: Duḥśāsana is set against Śatānīka; Hārdikya against a foremost Śini warrior; Dhṛṣṭadyumna declares he will personally fight Kṛpa, while the conflict also involves Droṇa’s son, Aśvatthāman.
