Karṇa’s Pressure on the Pāñcālas; Duryodhana Disabled; Arjuna’s Counter-Advance
भवानेव विशिष्टो हि पतत्रिभ्यो विहड़म । (एतेडतिपातिन: पश्य विहड्डान् वियदाश्रितान् | एभिस्त्वमपि शक्तो हि कामान्न पतितं त्वया ।।) उस समय उन हंसोंको देखकर कुमारोंने कौएसे इस प्रकार कहा--'विहंगम! तुम्हीं समस्त पक्षियोंमें श्रेष्ठ हो। देखो, ये आकाशचारी हंस आकाशमें जाकर बड़ी दूरकी उड़ानें भरते हैं। तुम भी इन्हींके समान दूरतक उड़नेमें समर्थ हो। तुमने अपनी इच्छासे ही अबतक वैसी उड़ान नहीं भरी”
bhavān eva viśiṣṭo hi patatribhyo vihaṅgama | eted atipātinaḥ paśya vihaṅgān viyad-āśritān | ebhis tvam api śakto hi kāmān na patitaṃ tvayā ||
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ആ ഹംസങ്ങളെ കണ്ട കുമാരന്മാർ കാക്കയോട് ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞു—“ഹേ വിഹംഗമേ! പക്ഷികളിൽ നീയേ ശ്രേഷ്ഠൻ. നോക്കുക—ഈ ആകാശചാരി ഹംസങ്ങൾ ഗഗനത്തിലേക്ക് ഉയർന്ന് വളരെ ദൂരം പറക്കുന്നു. നീയും അവരെപ്പോലെ ദൂരം പറക്കാൻ ശേഷിയുള്ളവൻ; നിന്റെ സ്വന്തം ഇച്ഛയാൽ മാത്രമാണ് ഇതുവരെ അത്തരമൊരു പറക്കൽ നീ ശ്രമിക്കാത്തത്.”
