कर्णसेनापत्यारम्भः — Karṇa’s Appointment and the Report to Dhṛtarāṣṭra
Chapter 1
ते मुहूर्त समाश्वस्य हेतुभि: शास्त्रसम्मितै: । रात्यागमे महीपाला: स्वानि वेश्मानि भेजिरे,वे शास्त्रानुकूल युक्तियोंद्वारा दो घड़ीतक अश्वत्थामाको सान्त्वना देते रहे। फिर रात हो जानेपर समस्त भूपाल अपने-अपने शिविरमें चले गये इति श्रीमहाभारते कर्णपर्वणि जनमेजयवाक्यं नाम प्रथमो5ध्याय:
te muhūrtaṃ samāśvasya hetubhiḥ śāstra-sammitaiḥ | rātry-āgame mahīpālāḥ svāni veśmāni bhejire ||
ശാസ്ത്രസമ്മതമായ യുക്തികളാൽ കുറച്ചുനേരം മനസ്സുറപ്പിച്ച്, രാത്രി വന്നപ്പോൾ ആ മഹീപാലന്മാർ തങ്ങളുടെ തങ്ങളുടെ വാസസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലേക്ക് (ശിബിരങ്ങളിലേക്ക്) മടങ്ങി. ഇതി ശ്രീമഹാഭാരതേ കർണപർവണി ‘ജനമേജയവാക്യം’ നാമ പ്രഥമോദ്ധ്യായഃ.
