नानाशस्त्रपुरोवातो द्विपाश्वरथसंवृतः । गदाविद्युन्महारौद्र: संग्रामजलदो महान्
nānaśastrapurovāto dvipāśvarathasaṁvṛtaḥ | gadāvidyunmahāraudraḥ saṅgrāmajalado mahān |
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ആന, കുതിര, രഥങ്ങൾ നിറഞ്ഞ മഹാസൈന്യസമുച്ചയമായ ആ യുദ്ധഭൂമി യുദ്ധത്തിന്റെ മഹാമേഘംപോലെ തോന്നി. നാനാവിധ ആയുധങ്ങൾ കിഴക്കൻ കാറ്റുപോലെ മുന്നോട്ട് പാഞ്ഞു; ഗദകൾ മിന്നലുപോലെ ജ്വലിച്ചു. ഭയാനകമായ ആ സമരമേഘത്തെ ദ്രോണാചാര്യൻ കാറ്റുപോലെ നയിച്ചു; അതിൽ നിന്ന് അമ്പുകളെന്ന ജലധാരകൾ ആയിരങ്ങളായി പാണ്ഡവസേനയ്ക്കെതിരെ എല്ലാദിക്കിലും നിന്ന് മഴപോലെ പെയ്തു—അഗ്നിപോലെ ഉഗ്രമായി ജ്വലിച്ച്.
