Droṇa’s sweeping assault and the Abhimanyu–Jayadratha close-quarters episode (द्रोणस्य भीषणव्यचरितम् / सौभद्र-जयद्रथ-संनिपातः)
ततः प्रववृते युद्ध तुमुलं लोमहर्षणम् । पाण्डवानां कुरूणां च द्रोणपाउचाल्ययोरपि
tataḥ pravavṛte yuddhaṁ tumulaṁ lomaharṣaṇam | pāṇḍavānāṁ kurūṇāṁ ca droṇapāñcālyayor api | āptair āśu parijñātaṁ bhāradvājacikīrṣitam ||
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—തുടർന്ന് പാണ്ഡവരും കുരുക്കളും തമ്മിലും, ദ്രോണനും പാഞ്ചാലസേനാനായകനും തമ്മിലും ഭയങ്കരവും തുമുലവും രോമാഞ്ചജനകവുമായ യുദ്ധം പൊട്ടിപ്പുറപ്പെട്ടു. കൂടാതെ വിശ്വസ്തരിലൂടെ ഭാരദ്വാജപുത്രൻ ദ്രോണന്റെ ഉദ്ദേശം വേഗത്തിൽ അറിയപ്പെട്ടു.
