Droṇa’s sweeping assault and the Abhimanyu–Jayadratha close-quarters episode (द्रोणस्य भीषणव्यचरितम् / सौभद्र-जयद्रथ-संनिपातः)
सिंहनादश्न संजज्ञे पाण्डवानां महात्मनाम् | धनुर्ज्यातलशब्दश्ष गगनस्पृक् सुभैरव:
saṁjaya uvāca | siṁhanādaś ca saṁjajñe pāṇḍavānāṁ mahātmanām | dhanurjyātalaśabdaś ca gaganaspr̥k subhairavaḥ | āptair āśu parijñātaṁ bhāradvājacikīrṣitam |
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—മഹാത്മാക്കളായ പാണ്ഡവരുടെ സിംഹനാദം പെട്ടെന്നു പൊട്ടിപ്പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ധനുസ്സിന്റെ ജ്യാ-താളത്തിന്റെ ഭയങ്കരവും ആകാശത്തെ തൊടുന്നതുമായ ശബ്ദം മുഴങ്ങി. കൂടാതെ ഭാരദ്വാജപുത്രൻ ദ്രോണന്റെ ഉദ്ദേശ്യം വിശ്വസ്തരാൽ വേഗത്തിൽ യഥാവിധി അറിയപ്പെട്ടു.
