तथा मर्मातिगैर्भीष्मो निजघान महारथान् । कम्पयन् समरे सेनां पाण्डवानां परंतप:,दूसरी ओर शत्रुओंको संताप देनेवाले भीष्म समरांगणमें अपने मर्मभेदी बाणोंद्वारा पाण्डव-सेनाको कम्पित करते हुए उसके बड़े-बड़े रथियोंको मार रहे थे
tathā marmātigair bhīṣmo nijaghāna mahārathān | kampayan samare senāṃ pāṇḍavānāṃ paraṃtapaḥ ||
മറ്റൊരു വശത്ത് ശത്രുസന്താപകനായ ഭീഷ്മൻ യുദ്ധഭൂമിയിൽ മർമ്മഭേദക അമ്പുകളാൽ പാണ്ഡവസേനയെ കുലുക്കിക്കൊണ്ട് അവരുടെ മഹാരഥന്മാരെ വധിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
