तत्पश्चात्‌ भीमसेनने दो बाणोंसे दुर्योधनका धनुष काट दिया, दोसे उसके सारथिको पीड़ित किया और चार बाणोंसे उसके वेगशाली घोड़ोंको यमलोक भेज दिया ।। द्वाभ्यां च सुविकृष्टा भ्यां शराभ्यामरिमर्दन: । छत्र॑ चिच्छेद समरे राज्ञस्तस्य नरोत्तम,नरश्रेष्ठ) फिर शत्रुमर्दन भीमने धनुषको अच्छी तरह खींचकर छोड़े हुए दो बाणोंद्वारा समरभूमिमें राजा दुर्योधनके छत्रको काट दिया

tataḥ paścāt bhīmasenena dvābhyāṃ bāṇābhyāṃ duryodhanasya dhanuś chinnaṃ, dvābhyāṃ tasya sārathiḥ pīḍitaḥ, caturbhiś ca tasya vegavanto hayā yamalokaṃ preṣitāḥ | dvābhyāṃ ca suvikṛṣṭābhyāṃ śarābhyām arimardanaḥ chatraṃ ciccheda samare rājñas tasya narottamaḥ ||

അതിനു ശേഷം ഭീമസേനൻ രണ്ട് ശരങ്ങളാൽ ദുര്യോധനന്റെ ധനുസ്സിനെ മുറിച്ചു; രണ്ട് ശരങ്ങളാൽ സാരഥിയെ പീഡിപ്പിച്ചു; നാല് ശരങ്ങളാൽ വേഗശാലിയായ അശ്വങ്ങളെ യമലോകത്തിലേക്ക് അയച്ചു. പിന്നെ ശത്രുമർദനനായ ഭീമൻ ധനുസ്സിനെ പൂർണ്ണമായി വലിച്ച് വിട്ട രണ്ട് ശരങ്ങളാൽ സമരത്തിൽ ആ രാജാവിന്റെ രാജഛത്രം മുറിച്ചുതള്ളി.
