भीमसेन-दुर्योधन-समागमः

ततो भीष्मविनिर्मुक्ता रुक्मपुड्खा: शिलाशिता: । अभ्यघ्नन्‌ समरे भीम॑ तैलधौता: सुतेजना:,उस समय पत्थरपर रगड़कर तेज किये हुए, सुवर्णमय पंखसे युक्त और तेलके धोये तीखे बाण भीष्मके हाथोंसे छूटकर समरभूमिमें भीमसेनको चोट पहुँचाने लगे

tato bhīṣma-vinirmuktā rukma-puṅkhāḥ śilāśitāḥ | abhyaghnan samare bhīmaṃ tailadhautāḥ sutejanāḥ ||

അപ്പോൾ ഭീഷ്മൻ വിട്ടുവിട്ട സ്വർണ്ണപ്പക്ഷങ്ങളുള്ള, കല്ലിൽ മൂർച്ചപ്പെടുത്തിയതും എണ്ണയിൽ മിനുക്കിയതുമായ അതിതീക്ഷ്ണ അമ്പുകൾ യുദ്ധഭൂമിയിൽ ഭീമസേനനെ തട്ടി വേദനിപ്പിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി।
