चण्डवातो यथा मेघ: सविद्युत्स्तनयित्नुमान् । दिश: सम्प्लावयन् सर्वा: शरवर्ष: समनन््तत:ः
caṇḍavāto yathā meghaḥ savidyut-stanayitnumān | diśaḥ samplāvayan sarvāḥ śaravarṣaḥ samanantataḥ ||
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—മിന്നലും ഇടിമുഴക്കവും നിറഞ്ഞ മേഘത്തെ പ്രചണ്ഡവാതം എങ്ങനെ തള്ളിക്കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നുവോ, അതുപോലെ അനന്തമായി തോന്നുന്ന ശരവർഷം എല്ലാ ദിക്കുകളെയും പ്രളയമെന്നപോലെ മൂടിക്കൊണ്ട് പാഞ്ഞുവന്നു; യുദ്ധത്തിന്റെ ആ കൊടുങ്കാറ്റ് ഒരു ദിക്കിനെയും ഒഴിവാക്കിയില്ല।
