सधनु: सरथ: साथश्वः प्रवपन् सायकान् रणे । यह अत्यन्त अद्भुत युद्ध सम्पूर्ण लोकोंके लिये आश्चर्यजनक घटना है। भविष्यमें ऐसे युद्ध होनेकी किसी प्रकार भी सम्भावना नहीं है। बुद्धिमान पार्थ रणभूमिमें भीष्मको कदापि जीत नहीं सकते; क्योंकि वे समरभूमिमें रथ

സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ധനുസ്സോടെ, രഥത്തിൽ, അശ്വങ്ങളോടും അനുചരങ്ങളോടും കൂടി അദ്ദേഹം യുദ്ധമദ്ധ്യേ അമ്പുകളെ വിത്തുപോലെ വിതറിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. ഈ സമരം അത്യന്തം അത്ഭുതകരം—സകല ലോകങ്ങൾക്കും വിസ്മയകരമായൊരു സംഭവം; ഭാവിയിൽ ഇത്തരമൊരു യുദ്ധം വീണ്ടും ഉണ്ടാകാനുള്ള സാധ്യതയില്ല. ബുദ്ധിമാനായ പാർത്ഥനും രണഭൂമിയിൽ ഭീഷ്മനെ ഒരിക്കലും ജയിക്കുകയില്ല; കാരണം ഭീഷ്മൻ രഥവും അശ്വങ്ങളും ധനുസ്സും സഹിതം സമരത്തിൽ നിലകൊണ്ട് ശരം വിത്തുപോലെ ചിതറിക്കുന്നു.
