विकर्णो दशभिर्भल्लै राजन् विव्याध पाण्डवम् | नरेश्वर! तदनन्तर सम्पूर्ण विश्वमें विख्यात महारथी भीष्मने अर्जुनपर सतहत्तर बाण चलाये

vikarṇo daśabhir bhallai rājann vivyādha pāṇḍavam |
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—രാജാവേ! വികർണ്ണൻ പത്ത് ഭല്ലബാണങ്ങളാൽ പാണ്ഡവനെ (അർജുനനെ) കുത്തിവെച്ചു. തുടർന്ന് മഹാരഥികളുടെ പ്രസിദ്ധമായ ആ ഏറ്റുമുട്ടലിൽ ഭീഷ്മൻ, ദ്രോണൻ, കൃപൻ, ദുര്യോധനൻ, ശല്യൻ, ജയദ്രഥൻ, ശകുനി, വികർണ്ണൻ—ഓരോരുത്തരും തങ്ങളുടെ തങ്ങളുടെ ബാണവർഷം ചൊരിഞ്ഞ് പാണ്ഡുനന്ദനൻ അർജുനനെ ചുറ്റുമുറ്റി വേദനിപ്പിച്ചു.
