उत्पातवर्णनम् (Utpāta-varṇanam) — Catalogue of Portents
नैव स्थापयितुं शक््या शूरैरपि महाचमू: । सत्कृत्य महतीं सेनां चतुरड्रां महीपति: । उपायपूर्व मेधावी यतेत सततोत्थित:
naiva sthāpayituṃ śakyā śūrair api mahācamūḥ | satkṛtya mahatīṃ senāṃ catur-aṅgāṃ mahīpatiḥ | upāya-pūrvaṃ medhāvī yateta satatotthitaḥ ||
അപ്പോൾ അനേകം ധീരന്മാർക്കും ആ മഹാസൈന്യത്തെ തടഞ്ഞു നിർത്താൻ കഴിയില്ല. അതിനാൽ ബുദ്ധിമാനായ രാജാവ് എപ്പോഴും ജാഗ്രതയോടെ നിന്ന്, നന്നായി ആലോചിച്ച ഉപായങ്ങളാൽ, യഥോചിത ബഹുമാനവും ശ്രദ്ധയും നൽകി, തന്റെ മഹത്തായ ചതുരംഗസൈന്യത്തെ സ്ഥിരവും ശാസനാബദ്ധവുമാക്കി നിലനിർത്താൻ നിരന്തരം പരിശ്രമിക്കണം.
