उत्पातवर्णनम् (Utpāta-varṇanam) — Catalogue of Portents
नैव शक््या समाधातुं संनिपाते महाचमू: । दीर्णामित्येव दीर्यन्ते सुविद्वांसोईपि भारत
naiva śakyā samādhātuṁ saṁnipāte mahācamūḥ | dīrṇām ity eva dīryante suvidvāṁso ’pi bhārata bharatanandana ||
ഭാരതനന്ദനാ! മഹാസൈന്യത്തിന്റെ തിരക്കേറിയ സമാഗമത്തിൽ ഒരിക്കൽ ഓട്ടം തുടങ്ങുകയാണെങ്കിൽ, ഉപദേശിച്ച് വീണ്ടും ക്രമത്തിലാക്കുക എളുപ്പമല്ല. ‘സൈന്യം തകർന്നു’ എന്ന വിളി കേട്ടമാത്രം, യുദ്ധവിദ്യയിൽ പണ്ഡിതരായവരും ചിതറി ഓടിത്തുടങ്ങും.
