उत्पातवर्णनम् (Utpāta-varṇanam) — Catalogue of Portents
धर्म्य देशय पन्थानं समर्थों ह्सि वारणे । क्षुद्रे जातिवरध॑ प्राहुर्मा कुरुष्व ममाप्रियम्
dharmaṃ deśaya panthānaṃ samartho 'si vāraṇe | kṣudre jātivadhāḥ prāhur mā kuruṣva mamāpriyam ||
“ധർമ്മ്യമായ പഥം ഉപദേശിക്ക; അവരെ തടയാൻ നീ സമർത്ഥനാണ്. സ്വജനവധം അത്യന്തം നീചകൃത്യമെന്നു പറയുന്നു; അത് എനിക്ക് അത്യന്തം അപ്രിയം. എനിക്ക് അപ്രിയമായ ഈ പ്രവൃത്തി ചെയ്യരുത്.”
