उत्पातवर्णनम् (Utpāta-varṇanam) — Catalogue of Portents
विनि:सृत्य महोल्काभिस्तिमिरं सर्वतोदिशम् । अन्योन्यमुपतिष्ठद्धिस्तत्र चोक्त महर्षिभि:
viniḥsṛtya maholkābhis timiraṃ sarvato diśam | anyonyam upatiṣṭhaddhis tatra cokta maharṣibhiḥ ||
എല്ലാ ദിക്കുകളിലും ഘോര അന്ധകാരം പരന്നപ്പോൾ മഹർഷിമാർ ജ്വലിക്കുന്ന തീപ്പന്തങ്ങൾ കൈയിൽ പിടിച്ച് തങ്ങളുടെ ആശ്രമങ്ങളിൽ നിന്ന് പുറത്തുവന്നു. അവർ പരസ്പരം അടുത്ത് കൂടി, ഈ അശുഭ നിമിത്തങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് ആലോചിച്ച വിധിയെ പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു.
