उत्पातवर्णनम् (Utpāta-varṇanam) — Catalogue of Portents

एकपफक्षाक्षिचरण: शकुनि: खचरो निशि । रौद्रं वदति संरब्ध: शोणितं छर्दयन्निव

ekapakṣākṣicaraṇaḥ śakuniḥ khacaro niśi | raudraṁ vadati saṁrabdhaḥ śoṇitaṁ chardayann iva ||

രാത്രിയിൽ ആകാശത്ത് ഒരു അപശകുനപ്പക്ഷി സഞ്ചരിച്ചു—അതിന് ഒരു ചിറകും ഒരു കണ്ണും ഒരു കാലും മാത്രമേ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുള്ളൂ. അത് കോപത്തോടെ രൗദ്രമായി നിലവിളിച്ചു; അതിന്റെ ശബ്ദം രക്തം ഛർദ്ദിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ തോന്നി.
