उत्पातवर्णनम् (Utpāta-varṇanam) — Catalogue of Portents

अन्योन्यमभिमृद्नन्ति नगराणि युयुत्सव: । पद्मोत्पलानि वृक्षेषु जायन्ते कुमुदानि च

anyonyam abhimṛdnanti nagarāṇi yuyutsavaḥ | padmotpalāni vṛkṣeṣu jāyante kumudāni ca ||

യുദ്ധാഗ്രഹത്തോടെ അവർ പരസ്പരത്തിന്റെ നഗരങ്ങളെ ചവിട്ടി പൊടിയാക്കുന്നു; കൂടാതെ പദ്മം, ഉത്പലം, കുമുദം എന്നീ ജലപുഷ്പങ്ങൾ പോലും വൃക്ഷങ്ങളിൽ ജനിക്കുകയാണ്।
