महेन्द्रकेतव: शुभ्रा महेन्द्रसदनेष्विव । संनद्धास्ते प्रवीराश्च ददृशुर्युद्धकाड्क्षिण:
sañjaya uvāca | mahendraketavaḥ śubhrā mahendrasadaneṣv iva | sannaddhās te pravīrāś ca dadṛśur yuddhakāṅkṣiṇaḥ ||
ദേവരാജൻ ഇന്ദ്രന്റെ സ്വർഗ്ഗസഭയിൽ പ്രകാശിക്കുന്ന ഇന്ദ്രധ്വജങ്ങൾ എങ്ങനെ ദീപ്തമാകുന്നുവോ, അതുപോലെ കൗരവ–പാണ്ഡവ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ പതാകകളും തിളങ്ങി. കവചായുധങ്ങളാൽ സന്നദ്ധരായ ആ പ്രമുഖ വീരർ യുദ്ധാകാംക്ഷയോടെ മഹാസമരാരംഭത്തെ കാത്തുനിന്നു ദൃശ്യമായി.
