अवध्यो मानुषैरेव सत्यसंधो महारथ: । अथवा दैवतै: सार्ध सर्वशास्त्रस्य पारग:
avadhyo mānuṣaireva satyasaṃdho mahārathaḥ | athavā daivataiḥ sārdha sarvaśāstrasya pāragāḥ ||
അവൻ സത്യസന്ധനായ മഹാരഥൻ; മനുഷ്യർക്കാൽ അവധ്യൻ. ദേവന്മാരോടുകൂടിയാലും—സകല ശാസ്ത്രങ്ങളിലും പാരംഗതനായ അവൻ—അജേയൻ തന്നേ.
संजय उवाच
The verse links true strength with dharmic integrity: a warrior’s invincibility is grounded not only in martial prowess (mahāratha) but also in unwavering truthfulness and fidelity to vows (satyasaṃdha), complemented by mastery of knowledge (sarvaśāstra-pāraga).
Sañjaya is describing a formidable figure on the battlefield, emphasizing that ordinary humans cannot defeat him and that his excellence is so complete—both in arms and in learning—that even the gods together would find him hard to overcome.
