Educational Q&A

Even amid war, action is shaped by dharma and personal vows: the Pāṇḍavas adopt a strategy that leverages Bhīṣma’s ethical restraint regarding Śikhaṇḍin, showing how moral codes can decisively influence battlefield outcomes.

Sañjaya reports that the Pāṇḍavas, led by Yudhiṣṭhira, advance with Śikhaṇḍin at the front and, together with the Sṛñjaya forces, engage Bhīṣma in combat—setting up the crucial confrontation where Bhīṣma’s response to Śikhaṇḍin becomes pivotal.
