Adhyāya 112: Bhīṣma-prati Arjunasya Pravṛttiḥ
Arjuna’s Forward Drive Toward Bhīṣma
sañjaya uvāca | putrās tu tava gāḍheyaṃ samantāt paryavārayan | mahatyā senayā sārdhaṃ tato yuddham avartata, rājan |

The verse underscores how collective force and tactical encirclement can intensify conflict, but it also hints at the ethical weight of war: when kin-driven ambition overrides restraint, violence escalates rapidly. It frames the battlefield as a test of kṣatriya-duty and leadership responsibility, where choices create irreversible consequences.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the Kaurava princes, backed by a large army, have surrounded Bhīṣma on all sides. Following this maneuver, a fierce engagement begins at that spot, signaling an escalation in the day’s fighting.
