Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the stark consequence of warfare: even when fought under the banner of duty, battle results in death and suffering. It invites reflection on the ethical gravity of violence and the irreversible cost borne by those who fight.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that on the battlefield Bhīma struck the Kaurava troops with arrows; soaked in streams of blood, they died and ‘went to the next world’ (paraloka).
