भीष्मपर्व — अध्याय ११०: पार्थभीमयोः प्रहारः तथा भीष्माभिमुखं संग्रामविस्तारः

Arjuna and Bhima’s pressure; escalation toward Bhishma

त॑ं चेत्‌ पितामहं वृद्ध हन्तुमिच्छामि माधव । पितु: पितरमिष्टं च धिगस्तु क्षत्रजीविकाम्‌,माधव! यद्यपि वे हमारे पिताके भी पिता और प्रिय हैं, तो भी उन बूढ़े पितामह भीष्मको भी मैं मारना चाहता हूँ। क्षत्रियकी इस जीविकाको धिक्कार है!

taṁ cet pitāmahaṁ vṛddha hantuṁ icchāmi mādhava | pituḥ pitaram iṣṭaṁ ca dhig astu kṣatrajīvikām, mādhava ||

ഹേ മാധവ! എന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ പിതാവും എനിക്ക് പ്രിയനുമായ ആ വൃദ്ധ പിതാമഹനെ ഞാൻ കൊല്ലാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ—ഈ ക്ഷത്രിയജീവികയ്ക്ക് നിന്ദയാകട്ടെ!
