ततः प्रववृते युद्ध तुमुलं लोमहर्षणम् । पाण्डवानां कुरूणां च समरे विजयैषिणाम्,तत्पश्चात् युद्धमें विजयकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले कौरवों तथा पाण्डवोंमें परस्पर घोर युद्ध हुआ, जो रोंगटे खड़े कर देनेवाला था
tataḥ pravavṛte yuddhaṁ tumulaṁ lomaharṣaṇam | pāṇḍavānāṁ kurūṇāṁ ca samare vijayaiṣiṇām ||
അതിനുശേഷം വിജയം ആഗ്രഹിച്ച പാണ്ഡവരും കുരുക്കളും തമ്മിൽ സമരത്തിൽ അത്യന്തം തുമുലവും രോമാഞ്ചജനകവുമായ ഭീകരയുദ്ധം ആരംഭിച്ചു।
