Adhyāya 107 —

Multiple Defensive Engagements to Protect Bhīṣma

sañjaya uvāca | avalaṣlutya tato vāhād bāhlīkaḥ puruṣottamaḥ | āruroha rathaṃ tūrṇaṃ lakṣmaṇasya mahāraṇe mahārāja ||

Educational Q&A

In a chaotic war setting, steadiness and swift practical decision-making are essential; when one’s immediate support fails, a warrior must quickly find a viable position to continue duty without surrendering to panic.

Bāhlīka dismounts from his current mount/vehicle and rapidly climbs onto Lakṣmaṇa’s chariot in the midst of the great battle, as reported by Sanjaya to the king.
