भीष्म-पर्व अध्याय १०० — त्रिगर्त-आक्रमण, भीष्म-केन्द्रित पुनर्संयोजन, तथा शक्त्यस्त्र-विनिमय
पाण्डवेषु दयां नित्यं स हि भीष्म: करोति वै । अशक्तिश्च रणे भीष्मो जेतुमेतान् महारथान्,भीष्म सदा ही पाण्डवोंपर दया करते हैं; अतः युद्धमें वे इन महारथियोंको जीतनेमें सर्वथा असमर्थ हैं

ഭീഷ്മൻ പാണ്ഡവന്മാരോടു നിത്യവും കരുണ കാണിക്കുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ട് യുദ്ധത്തിൽ ഈ മഹാരഥന്മാരെ ജയിക്കാൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് കഴിയില്ല.
