शकुनेः पुत्रेण सह आश्वमेधाश्वविषयः संघर्षः — Arjuna’s restrained engagement with Śakuni’s son during the horse-escort
समानीय महातेजा: सर्वान् भ्रातृन् महीपति: । भीम॑ च नकुलं चैव सहदेवं च कौरव,कुरुनन्दन! उस दिन माघ महीनेकी शुक्लपक्षकी द्वादशी तिथि थी। उसमें पुष्य- नक्षत्रका योग पाकर महातेजस्वी पृथ्वीपति धर्मराज युधिष्ठिरने अपने समस्त भाइयों-- भीमसेन, नकुल और सहदेवको बुलवाया और प्रहार करनेवालोंमें श्रेष्ठ भीमसेनको सम्बोधित करके वक्ताओं तथा धर्मात्माओंमें श्रेष्ठ युधिष्ठिने यह समयोचित बात कही --
samānīya mahātejāḥ sarvān bhrātṝn mahīpatiḥ | bhīmaṃ ca nakulaṃ caiva sahadevaṃ ca kaurava ||
വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു— അപ്പോൾ മഹാതേജസ്സുള്ള ഭൂമിപതി ധർമ്മരാജ യുദ്ധിഷ്ഠിരൻ, ഹേ കുരുനന്ദന, ഭീമൻ, നകുലൻ, സഹദേവൻ എന്നീ സഹോദരന്മാരെയെല്ലാം ഒരുമിച്ചു വിളിച്ചു കൂട്ടി. പിന്നെ പ്രഹരിക്കുന്നവരിൽ ശ്രേഷ്ഠനായ ഭീമസേനനെ ആഹ്വാനിച്ച്, ധർമ്മാത്മാക്കളിലും വക്താക്കളിലും ശ്രേഷ്ഠനായ യുദ്ധിഷ്ഠിരൻ അവസരോചിതമായ നയവചനം പറയാൻ ഒരുങ്ങി.
