यह देख अर्जुनको बड़ा क्रोध हुआ। उन्होंने उस हाथीके ऊपर केंचुलसे निकले हुए सर्पोोके समान भयंकर तथा प्रज्वलित अग्निके तुल्य तेजस्वी बाणोंका प्रहार किया

tad dṛṣṭvā arjunasya mahān krodho 'bhavat | sa tasmin hastini kañculāt niṣkrāntān sarpān iva bhīṣaṇān prajvalitāgnitulya-tejasvinaḥ śarān prāharat |

ഇതു കണ്ട അർജുനന് മഹാക്രോധം ഉദിച്ചു. അവൻ ആ ആനയുടെ മേൽ, കഞ്ചുലം വിട്ടു പുറത്തുവരുന്ന സർപ്പങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ ഭയങ്കരവും, ജ്വലിക്കുന്ന അഗ്നിയെപ്പോലെ ദീപ്തവുമായ അമ്പുകൾ പ്രഹരിച്ചു।
