Marutta–Indra Rivalry and Bṛhaspati’s Priestly Refusal (मरुत्तेन्द्रस्पर्धा—बृहस्पतेः पौरोहित्यनिश्चयः)

तस्य वासवतुल्यो< भून्मरुत्तो नाम वीर्यवान्‌ | पुत्रस्तमनुरक्ता भूत्‌ पृथिवी सागराम्बरा,अविक्षितके पुत्रका नाम मरुत्त था, जो इन्द्रके समान पराक्रमी थे। समुद्ररूपी वस्त्रसे आच्छादित हुई यह सारी पृथ्वी--समस्त भूमण्डलकी प्रजा उनमें अनुराग रखती थी

tasya vāsavatulyo 'bhūn marutto nāma vīryavān | putras tam anuraktā bhūt pṛthivī sāgarāmbarā ||

വ്യാസൻ പറഞ്ഞു—അവന്റെ പുത്രൻ മരു‍ത്തൻ എന്ന പേരുള്ള വീര്യവാൻ; വാസവൻ (ഇന്ദ്രൻ) തുല്യൻ. സമുദ്രം എന്ന വസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ സമസ്ത ഭൂമി അവനോടു അനുരക്തയായി.
