Educational Q&A

The verse introduces a doctrinal distinction: the ‘eternal source/origin of Brahman (or sacred knowledge)’ is to be understood as twofold, preparing the listener for a classification of ultimate principles or sources of spiritual knowledge.

Vāyudeva is speaking and begins an explanatory passage by stating that a fundamental metaphysical ‘origin/source’ is of two types, signaling that a more detailed teaching or enumeration follows in subsequent verses.
