Educational Q&A

The verse praises a dharmic ideal of leadership and conduct: true strength is shown through foresight, gentleness, and disciplined self-restraint, qualities likened to the dignified steadiness associated with Vaiśravaṇa (Kubera).

Vaiśampāyana is describing a person’s character in laudatory terms, using a simile—“like Vaiśravaṇa”—to emphasize enduring prudence, mildness, and self-control within the Ashramavāsika context of reflection and moral evaluation after the great war.
