कुन्तीनिवर्तनप्रयत्नः तथा वननिवासप्रारम्भः

Attempt to Dissuade Kuntī; Commencement of Forest Residence

तापसैश्न महाभागैर्नानादेशसमागतै: । द्रष्ट कुरुपते: पुत्रान्‌ पाण्डवान्‌ पृथुवक्षस:,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! जब राजा धृतराष्ट्र सुन्दर कमलके-से नेत्रोंवाले पुरुषसिंह युधिष्ठिर आदि पाँचों भाइयोंके साथ आश्रममें विराजमान हुए, उस समय वहाँ अनेक देशोंसे आये हुए महाभाग तपस्वीगण कुरुराज पाण्डुके पुत्र--विशाल वक्ष:स्थलवाले पाण्डवोंको देखनेके लिये पहलेसे उपस्थित थे

vaiśampāyana uvāca |

tāpasaiś ca mahābhāgair nānādeśasamāgataiḥ |

draṣṭuṁ kurupateḥ putrān pāṇḍavān pṛthuvakṣasaḥ ||

നാനാദേശങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നെത്തിയ മഹാഭാഗ തപസ്വികൾ, കുരുപതിയുടെ പുത്രന്മാരായ—പാണ്ഡുവിന്റെ വിശാലവക്ഷ പാണ്ഡവരെ ദർശിക്കുവാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ച് അവിടെ സന്നിഹിതരായിരുന്നു.
