Educational Q&A

True dharma is shown not only in counsel but in conduct: loyal attendants and wise elders accept hardship voluntarily, choosing solidarity and renunciation over comfort when the rightful course is withdrawal from worldly power.

As Dhṛtarāṣṭra prepares to leave for the forest-life, Vidura decides to go with him; Sañjaya, described as a high minister and also as the son of Gāvalgaṇa, likewise resolves to accompany the king into exile and austerity.
