Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Public Request for Consent to Enter the Forest (अनुज्ञा-प्रार्थना)
आज्ञापय किमेतेभ्य: प्रदायं दीयतामिति । तदुपस्थितमेवात्र वचनान्ते ददुस्तदा,धर्मराज युधिष्ठिरकी आज्ञासे हिसाब लगाने और लिखनेवाले बहुतेरे कार्यकर्ता वहाँ निरन्तर उपस्थित रहकर धृतराष्ट्रसे पूछते रहते थे कि बताइये, इन याचकोंको क्या दिया जाय? यहाँ सब सामग्री उपस्थित ही है। धृतराष्ट्र ज्यों ही कहते त्यों ही उतना धन उन याचकोंको वे कर्मचारी दे देते थे
ājñāpaya kim etebhyaḥ pradāyaṃ dīyatām iti | tad upasthitam evātra vacanānte dadus tadā ||
അവർ എല്ലായ്പ്പോഴും ആ രാജാവിനോട് ചോദിച്ചു—“ആജ്ഞാപിക്കണം, ഇവർക്കെന്ത് ദാനം നൽകണം?” ഇവിടെ എല്ലാം ഒരുക്കമായിരുന്നു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വാക്ക് തീരുന്നതുമാത്രം അന്നേ സമയത്ത് തന്നെ ഉടൻ ദാനം നൽകി.
