छत्रोपानहदानफलप्रशंसा — Praise of the Merit of Donating Umbrella and Footwear
एतस्मात् कारणाद् ब्रह्मंश्चवितयैतत् कृतं मया । एतच्छुत्वा मम विभो मा क्रुधस्त्वं तपोधन,ब्रह्म! इसी कारणसे मैंने आपका यह कार्य कुछ विलम्बसे पूरा किया है। तपोधन! प्रभो! मेरे इस बातपर ध्यान देकर आप क्रोध न करें
etasmāt kāraṇād brahmanś cāvitayaitat kṛtaṃ mayā | etac chrutvā mama vibho mā krudhas tvaṃ tapodhana brahma ||
“ബ്രാഹ്മണനേ! ഈ കാരണത്താലാണ് ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ കാര്യം കുറച്ച് വൈകി ചെയ്തതു. തപോധനനായ പ്രഭോ! എന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ കേട്ട് നിങ്ങൾ കോപിക്കരുതേ.”
भीष्म उवाच
Even when one has acted with a justifying reason, one should speak with humility and seek to prevent anger—especially in dealings with the learned and ascetic—upholding restraint and respectful conduct as part of dharma.
Bhishma explains to a Brahmin ascetic that he completed the requested task only after some delay due to a particular reason, and he asks the ascetic not to become angry upon hearing this explanation.
