Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa
Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
रौद्रे लोहितमित्याहुलोहितात् कनकं स्मृतम् । तन्मैत्रमिति विज्ञेयं धूमाच्च वसव: स्मृता:
raudre lohitam ity āhur lohitāt kanakaṃ smṛtam | tan maitram iti vijñeyaṃ dhūmāc ca vasavaḥ smṛtāḥ ||
വസിഷ്ഠൻ പറഞ്ഞു—രൗദ്രഭാവത്തിൽ അതിനെ ‘ലോഹിത’ എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നു; ആ ലോഹിതത്തിൽ നിന്നാണ് ‘കനകം’ (സ്വർണം) ഉദ്ഭവിക്കുന്നതെന്ന് സ്മൃതിയുണ്ട്. ആ കനകം ‘മൈത്രം’—മിത്രതത്ത്വസംബന്ധം—എന്നു ഗ്രഹിക്കണം; പുകയും നിന്നാണ് വസുക്കളുടെ ഉദ്ഭവമെന്ന് പറയുന്നു.
