Śrāddha-Kalpa: Pitṛ-Pūjā and Tithi-Phala (श्राद्धकल्पः पितृपूजा च तिथिफलम्)
ते यद् ब्रूयुर्महाप्राज्ञास्तच्चैव समुदाचर । ततो वसिष्ठ देवर्षिमगस्त्यमथ काश्यपम्
te yad brūyur mahāprājñās tac caiva samudācara | tato vasiṣṭhaṃ devarṣim agastyam atha kāśyapaṃ, kena vā karmayogena pradānena iha kena vā ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—“മഹാപ്രാജ്ഞരായ മഹർഷിമാർ എന്തു പറയുന്നുവോ അതുതന്നെ യഥാവിധി ആചരിക്ക.” തുടർന്ന് തേജസ്വിയായ ഭൃഗുനന്ദനൻ പരശുരാമൻ വസിഷ്ഠൻ, അഗസ്ത്യൻ, കാശ്യപൻ (മറ്റും ദേവർഷി) എന്നിവരോടടുത്ത് ചോദിച്ചു—“ഹേ വിപ്രവരന്മാരേ! ഞാൻ പാവനനാകാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു. പറയുക—ഏത് കർമയോഗാനുഷ്ഠാനത്തിലൂടെയോ, അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ഈ ലോകത്തിൽ ഏത് ദാനത്തിലൂടെയോ ശുദ്ധി ലഭിക്കും?”
