Chapter 85: Suvarṇasya Janma ca Pradāna-Phalam

सत्यं च लोकवादो<यं लोके चरति सुव्रता: । स्वयं प्राप्ते परिभवों भवतीति विनिशक्ष॒य:,उत्तम व्रतका पालन करनेवाली गौओ! लोकमें जो यह प्रवाद चल रहा है कि “बिना बुलाये स्वयं किसीके यहाँ जानेपर निश्चय ही अनादर होता है।” यह ठीक ही जान पड़ता है

Bhīṣma uvāca: satyaṃ ca lokavādo ’yaṃ loke carati suvratāḥ | svayaṃ prāpte paribhavo bhavatīti viniścayaḥ ||

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഉത്തമവ്രതം പാലിക്കുന്ന പശുക്കളേ! ലോകത്ത് പ്രചരിക്കുന്ന ഈ ചൊല്ല് സത്യമാണ്—വിളിക്കാതെയായി സ്വയം മറ്റൊരാളുടെ വീട്ടിൽ ചെന്നാൽ നിശ്ചയമായും അവമാനം സംഭവിക്കും; ഇതാണ് ഉറച്ച നിഗമനം.
