यथा मम प्रियतमास्त्वत्तो विप्रा: कुरूत्तम | तेन सत्येन गच्छेयं लोकान् यत्र स शान्तनुः,कुरुश्रेष्ठ! “ब्राह्मण मुझे तुम्हारी अपेक्षा भी बहुत अधिक प्रिय हैं--इस सत्यके प्रभावसे मैं उन्हीं पुण्यलोकोंमें जाऊँगा जहाँ मेरे पिता महाराज शान्तनु गये हैं
yathā mama priyatamās tvatto viprāḥ kurūttama | tena satyena gaccheyaṁ lokān yatra sa śāntanuḥ kuruśreṣṭha |
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ കുരുത്തമാ! ബ്രാഹ്മണർ എനിക്ക് നിന്നേക്കാൾ പോലും അധികം പ്രിയരാണ് എന്ന ഈ സത്യത്തിന്റെ ശക്തിയാൽ, എന്റെ പിതാവായ ശാന്തനു പോയ പുണ്യലോകങ്ങളിലേക്കു ഞാൻ എത്തുമാറാകട്ടെ.
