शुश्रूषते यः पितरं न चासूयेत् कदाचन । मातरं भ्रातरं वापि गुरुमाचार्यमेव च,राजन! जो पिता-माता, बड़े भाई, गुरुऔर आचार्यकी सेवा करता है और कभी उनके गुणोंमें दोषदृष्टि नहीं करता है, उसको मिलनेवाले फलको जान लो। उसे स्वर्गलोकमें सर्वसम्मानित स्थान प्राप्त होता है। मनको वशमें रखनेवाला वह पुरुष गुरुशुश्रूषाके प्रभावसे कभी नरकका दर्शन नहीं करता

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—രാജാവേ! യാതൊരാൾ പിതാവിനെ ശുശ്രൂഷിക്കുകയും ഒരിക്കലും അവനോടു ദോഷദൃഷ്ടിയോ അസൂയയോ പുലർത്താതിരിക്കുകയും, അതുപോലെ മാതാവിനെയും ജ്യേഷ്ഠഭ്രാതാവിനെയും ഗുരുവിനെയും ആചാര്യനെയും ശുശ്രൂഷിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നുവോ—
