भूमिं दत्त्वा तु साधुभ्यो विन्दते भूमिमुत्तमाम्‌ । प्रेत्य चेह च धर्मात्मा सम्प्राप्रोति महद्‌ यश:,श्रेष्ठ पुरुषोंको भूमिदान देनेसे दाताको उत्तम भूमिकी प्राप्ति होती है तथा वह धर्मात्मा पुरुष इहलोक और परलोकमें भी महान्‌ यशका भागी होता है

bhūmiṁ dattvā tu sādhubhyo vindate bhūmim uttamām | pretya ceha ca dharmātmā samprāpnoti mahad yaśaḥ ||

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—സദ്ജനന്മാർക്ക് ഭൂമിദാനം ചെയ്താൽ ദാതാവിന് ഉത്തമമായ ഭൂമി ലഭിക്കുന്നു. ആ ധർമ്മാത്മാവ് ഇഹലോകത്തും പരലോകത്തും മഹത്തായ യശസ്സിൽ പങ്കുചേരുന്നു.
