Cyavana–Kuśika Dialogue on Lineage, Conflict, and Transmission

tataḥ sukhāsīnam ṛṣiṁ vāgyatau saṁvāvahatuḥ | na ca paryāptam ity āha bhārgavaḥ sumahātapāḥ ||

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights disciplined restraint: the attendants serve in silence, and the ascetic does not voice “enough,” reflecting endurance, non-demanding conduct, and mastery over speech and comfort—qualities praised within dharma and tapas.

A sage sits comfortably while a couple (two persons) silently anoint and massage him with oil. The Bhārgava ascetic, Chyavana, does not once say that the massage is sufficient, maintaining silence and composure.
