Cyavana Explains His Tests; Kuśika Seeks Brāhmaṇya for His Line
aviśaṅkastu kuśikastathetyevāha dharmavit | na prabodhayatāṃ tau ca dampatī rajanīkṣaye ||
The verse highlights dharmic composure and trust: the dharma-knowing Kuśika responds without suspicion, while the householders’ restraint in not disturbing a resting guest underscores the ethical weight of considerate conduct and hospitality.
Kuśika agrees calmly (“so be it”). The night passes into morning, yet the husband and wife do not wake him, indicating they allow the sage to rest and do not interrupt him even at daybreak.
