इत्येतद् गोषु मे प्रोक्त माहात्म्यं भरतर्षभ । गुणैकदेशवचनं शक्यं पारायणं न तु
ity etad goṣu me proktaṃ māhātmyaṃ bharatarṣabha | guṇaikadeśavacanaṃ śakyaṃ pārāyaṇaṃ na tu ||
ഇങ്ങനെ, ഭാരതവംശത്തിലെ ശ്രേഷ്ഠനേ! ഞാൻ നിനക്കു ഗോകളുടെ മഹാത്മ്യം പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞത് അവരുടെ ഗുണങ്ങളുടെ ഒരു ഭാഗം മാത്രമാണ്; കുറെ പറയാൻ കഴിയുമെങ്കിലും, മുഴുവൻ ഗുണങ്ങളും പൂർണ്ണമായി പാരായണം ചെയ്ത് തീർക്കാൻ കഴിയില്ല.
