यथैव सदृशो रूपे मातापित्रोहि जायते । व्याप्रश्नित्रैस्तथा योनिं पुरुष: स्वां नियच्छति
yathaiva sadṛśo rūpe mātāpitror hi jāyate | vyāpraśnitrais tathā yoniṃ puruṣaḥ svāṃ niyacchati ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ജീവി രൂപത്തിൽ മാതാപിതാക്കളോട് സദൃശമായി ജനിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ, മനുഷ്യനും അവനെ പ്രേരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ശക്തികളാൽ തന്റെ തന്നെ യോനി-പരമ്പരയുടെയും സ്വഭാവത്തിന്റെയും പരിധിക്കുള്ളിൽ ബന്ധിതനായി നിലകൊള്ളുന്നു; അർത്ഥം, അവൻ തന്റെ ഉത്ഭവവും പ്രകൃതിയും കാണിക്കുന്ന പാത തന്നെയാണ് പിന്തുടരുന്നത്.
