त्वमेव दैवतै: सर्वे: पृच्छयसे धर्मसंशयात्‌ । अतत्त्वं देवदेवानामाधिपत्ये प्रतिष्ठित:,“धर्मके विषयमें संशय होनेपर सब देवता आपसे ही अपना संदेह पूछते हैं। इसीलिये आप देवाधिदेवोंके अधिपति पदपर प्रतिष्ठित हैं

tvam eva daivataiḥ sarvaiḥ pṛcchyase dharma-saṁśayāt | atattvaṁ deva-devānām ādhipatye pratiṣṭhitaḥ ||

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ധർമ്മത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് സംശയം ഉയരുമ്പോൾ എല്ലാ ദേവന്മാരും നിന്നോടുതന്നെ ചോദിക്കുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ടാണ് നീ ദേവന്മാരുടെയും ദേവന്മാരുടെയും മേൽ അധിപത്യസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ ഉറച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവൻ—സത്യവും അസത്യവും തിരിച്ചറിയുന്നവൻ.
