Strī-satkāra (On honoring women) — Mahābhārata 13.46
बेटा! तुमने यथाशक्ति मेरी स्त्रीकी रक्षा की है और यह बात मुझे बतायी है, अतः मैं तुमपर बहुत प्रसन्न हूँ। तात! तुम स्वस्थ रहकर स्वर्गलोकमें जाओगे ।। इत्युक्त्वा विपुलं प्रीतो देवशर्मा महानृषि: । मुमोद स्वर्गमास्थाय सहभार्य: सशिष्यक:,विपुलसे ऐसा कहकर प्रसन्न हुए महर्षि देवशर्मा अपनी पत्नी और शिष्यके साथ स्वर्गमें जाकर वहाँका सुख भोगने लगे
vipula uvāca | vatsa! tvayā yathāśakti mama bhāryāyā rakṣā kṛtā, etac ca me niveditam; ataḥ tvayi ahaṃ bahu prasannaḥ | tāta! tvaṃ svasthaḥ san svargalokaṃ gamiṣyasi || ity uktvā vipulaṃ prīto devaśarmā mahān ṛṣiḥ | mumoda svargam āsthāya saha-bhāryaḥ sa-śiṣyakaḥ ||
വിഫുലൻ പറഞ്ഞു— “മകനേ! നീ യഥാശക്തി എന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ സംരക്ഷിച്ചു, ആ കാര്യം എനിക്ക് അറിയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു; അതുകൊണ്ട് ഞാൻ നിന്നിൽ വളരെ പ്രസന്നനാണ്. താതാ! ക്ഷേമത്തോടെ ഇരുന്ന് നീ സ്വർഗ്ഗലോകത്തിലേക്ക് പോകും.” ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞ് മഹർഷി ദേവശർമ വിഫുലനോട് സന്തോഷിച്ചു; ഭാര്യയും ശിഷ്യനും കൂടെ സ്വർഗ്ഗം പ്രാപിച്ച് അവിടെ ദിവ്യസുഖം അനുഭവിച്ചു।

Vipula addresses Devaśarmā, stating that he protected the sage’s wife as best he could and informed the sage of the matter. Devaśarmā, pleased, blesses Vipula with health and the attainment of heaven; then Devaśarmā himself proceeds to heaven with his wife and disciple and enjoys celestial happiness.
