अन्न ते वर्तयिष्यामि इतिहासं पुरातनम् । यथा रक्षा कृता पूर्व विपुलेन महात्मना
anna te vartayiṣyāmi itihāsaṃ purātanam | yathā rakṣā kṛtā pūrvaṃ vipulena mahātmanā ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—പ്രിയനേ! ഞാൻ നിന്നോട് ഒരു പുരാതന ഇതിഹാസം പറയാം—മുൻകാലത്ത് മഹാത്മാവായ വിപുലൻ തന്റെ ഗുരുപത്നിയെ എങ്ങനെ സംരക്ഷിച്ചു എന്നത്.
