भीष्म उवाच एतच्छुत्वा वचस्तस्य देवर्षेरप्सरोत्तमा । प्रत्युवाच न शक्ष्यामि स्त्री सती निन्दितुं स्त्रिय:,भीष्मजी कहते हैं--राजन्‌! नारदजीका यह वचन सुनकर वह उत्तम अप्सरा बोली -- देवर्षे! मैं स्त्री होकर स्त्रियोंकी निन्दा नहीं कर सकती

bhīṣma uvāca etac chrutvā vacas tasya devarṣer apsarottamā | pratyuvāca na śakṣyāmi strī satī nindituṁ striyaḥ ||

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—രാജാവേ! ദേവർഷി നാരദന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ കേട്ട ആ ശ്രേഷ്ഠ അപ്സര പറഞ്ഞു—“ദേവർഷേ! ഞാൻ സ്ത്രീയായിരിക്കെ, സതിയായിരിക്കെ, സ്ത്രീകളെ നിന്ദിക്കാൻ കഴിയില്ല.”
